I study Islam with a focus on Indonesia where I research much about gender issues, interfaith and freedom of religion.

My original field is Middle Eastern Studies. While working for a refugee agency in Egypt I learned about the Coptic Orthodox Church, one of the oldest churches in the world. I continue to study and write about contemporary Coptic issues.

INTERFAITH

I regularly contribute to published discussions about studying and engaging in interfaith activities. I also co-founded and still serve as editor the journal Inter-religious Studies and Intercultural Theology (ISIT).One of the goals of the journal is to keep up with developments in this area so do not hesitate to contact me if you have ideas for new topics.
